WELCOME TO THE BLACK LION
The Black Lion is located in the heart of the beautiful village of Appledore in Kent,
We are a family run free house and restaurant serving traditional British fare and locally produced real ales in a relaxed and cosy atmosphere.
Our bar and restaurant has a relaxed country style with warm open fires to cosy up to in the winter.
In the summer months you can enjoy a relaxing afternoon dining on our picnic benches and watch the world go by in the heart of our delightful village.
Black Lion Cubs are welcome and can order from our delightful children’s menu, offering a selection of healthy well known favourite dishes.

Four legged Black Lion ‘Cubs’ are also welcome at The Black Lion.
The Black Lion can be found in the historic village of Appledore, which can trace its history back to Viking times back when it was a busy port.
Previously called the Red lion, this popular establishment can be dated back to the early 1800's.
Appledore is also the inspirational village for AA Milne famous poem
"The knight who's armour did not squeak"
